Record November Snow in the Three Valleys
We haven’t seen so much November snow in the Three Valleys since 2007!
A bumper 35cm has already fallen in St Martin de Belleville since the start of the month and there is more to follow this weekend.
The surprise early snowfall has meant that the resort of Val Thorens (in the Belleville Valley) has announced that they will open lifts a week early than planned. The recent massive snowfalls (63cm in the resort and 130cm at the top) combined with the chilly temperatures will allow the resort to open 70% of its lifts from 19 November.
The impressive snowfall stats this November have also meant that the neighbouring resort of Courchevel has opened their main gondolas for a free ski day for locals and nearby visitors. There was a huge turnout for those who wanted to experience November skiing on 11th November which is a bank holiday.
Reports of great conditions on-piste, with beautiful snowy trees and clouds clearing in the afternoon made for an exciting early start to the season. Lots of locals have been heading up with ski touring equipment to slide down un-groomed pistes – and returning with huge grins!
If you’d like to come and play in this early snow then our First Tracks guests will be arriving from 12th December – we have a few rooms left and are offering the possibility of short breaks for £100 per person per night for a catered stay.
