The best January, ever!
Conditions in the Three Valleys are just absolutely stunning.
Snow has fallen, snow on snow… And now the sun is shining!
Everyone in the Alps is aware that it is also very dangerous and here at Ski Talini we are keen advocates of getting proper equipment, training on how to use it, and a guide or instructor if you want to venture off piste (we heartily recommend New Generation Ski School for this).
However the pistes are in such amazing condition – beautifully groomed then with fresh powder on the top – that you really don’t need to venture into dangerous areas to enjoy easy powder skiing. And it’s just so quiet on the slopes!
We have low temperatures which means that the powder is beautifully light right into the village of St Martin at 1450m, and reports from the Courchevel valley are that the skiing is heavenly down to the valley floor at 900m!
We loved skiing St Martin’s very own Pramint today, as well as Courchevel’s Chapelets. Mont Vallon in Meribel was beautiful. And you have to check out this video from our friends over at Fork Tree.
There is more snow due to arrive today and tomorrow with next weeks’ guests enjoying wall to wall sunshine, lucky them!! We LOVE skiing in January – reliable snow, cold temperatures keeping conditions intact and there’s almost no-one here – the slopes are quiet and there are no queues for the lifts.
