An Insider’s Guide to St Martin de Belleville
St Martin de Belleville offers something for all levels of skier or boarder: long cruisey pistes, stunning terrain and easy access to the entire Three Valleys.
But in fact, you don’t even have to be a skier or snowboarder to enjoy a stay here (although it would be a shame not to give it a go….) because with a wide array of foodie treats and quaint bars, as well as a host of off-snow activities, there’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained all week.
Whether you have a holiday booked in St Martin, or you’re considering options for your next ski destination, read our insider’s guide of things to do for the ultimate ski holiday in St Martin de Belleville.
1. Ski the Three Valleys
OK, we know it’s an obvious one, but one of the big draws of St Martin de Belleville is the easy access to the biggest ski area in the world. Yup, all 600kms of skiable terrain, as well as oodles more off-piste options. If you’re a a beginner or intermediate then you may want to ease yourself in gently: start in the Belleville valley which includes St Martin, Les Menuires and Val Thorens.
Once you’ve got your ski legs in, the Three Valleys are your oyster! You can be in Méribel in a little over 30 minutes, and Courchevel in around an hour. How many resorts can boast such easy access to that amount of terrain? Want some tips for where to ski?

2. Discover St Martin de Belleville’s gastronomy
If you’re going to keep your energy up you’re going to need to refuel. Thankfully, you’ve come to the right place! St Martin de Belleville has a reputation for gastronomy, and rightly so! St Martin hails from a history of farming, and retains that rustic agricultural charm despite being part of such a huge ski area. Think dining in a working farm, the freshest produce with zero food miles, friendly mountain restaurants and smart Michelin starred establishments… Plenty to keep your taste buds tantalised throughout your holiday!

3. Take a ski lesson
Whatever our level we can all benefit from a bit of tuition. Whether you’re new to the sport of skiing or snowboarding, are a little rusty after a few years off, have picked up bad habits, or want to try off-piste skiing in a safe way, ski lessons can help you build confidence, develop technique and get more from your week.
The better your skills, the further you can travel. And the more adventures you can have. It’s a no brainer really.
The benefit of a little local knowledge will really supercharge your week and help you find the best snow conditions in the Three Valleys (spoiler: there’s plenty!)

4. Treat yourself to a spa session
Skiing can be a taxing activity if your body is not used to it. Let’s face it, not many of us spend hours a day leaning forward, using our thighs, trying to defy gravity! So if you fancy an afternoon off, or just need to recharge a little, what better way to relax than in the spa?

5. Enjoy some Après
St Martin is not Meribel or St Anton, but maybe the thought of spending a week in the après-ski capital of the Alps doesn’t particularly appeal? Nonetheless, should you fancy a drink or two to unwind after skiing, the popular P bar has live music at apres-ski o’clock. For later drinks, head to Le Joker bar after your evening meal.
6. Try an adrenaline-fueled toboggan run
In neighbouring Les Menuires there are two super fun toboggan runs to tackle. Choose from the 4km ‘Roc n Bob’ course with 22 corners to tackle on a sledge. Or take on Speed Mountain, a roller coaster style ride, on a track. You can check out videos of both here.
Fancy something a little different? Why not try husky sledding? An exhilarating way to see the area, and to make the most of being outdoors. Excursions last from 30 minutes to an hour, so can easily fit into post-skiing, pre-afternoon tea time…
It’s important to book in advance for this, so do email us with your time preferences and we can book this activity for you.
8. Take to the air
If you have a head for heights and would like to take in the views of those endless white peaks from a bird’s eye perspective, then try a tandem paraglide – it’s not as terrifying as you’d think! Taking off from the top of Mont de la Chambre at 2850m you’ll soar through the air, looking over the whole of the Belleville Valley and beyond, before landing in Les Menuires. Highly recommended!
