So whether you have a holiday booked in St Martin, or you’re considering options for your next ski holiday, read our insider’s guide of things to do for the ultimate holiday in St Martin de Belleville.
1. Ski the Three Valleys
OK, we know it’s an obvious one, but one of the big draws of St Martin de Belleville is the easy access to the biggest ski area in the world. Yup, all 600kms of skiable terrain, as well as oodles more off-piste options. If you want to easy yourself in gently you can also start in the Belleville valley, taking in St Martin, Les Menuires and Val Thorens. Then once you’ve got your barings, the Three Valleys are your oyster! You can be in Méribel in a little over 30 minutes, and Courchevel in around an hour. How many resorts can boast easy access to that amount of terrain? Want some tips for where to ski? Read out 3 Valleys guide, including some of our favourite runs.
2. Discover why St Martin de Belleville has a reputation for gastronomy
If you’re going to keep your energy up you’re going to need to refuel. Thankfully, you’ve come to the right place! St Martin de Belleville has a reputation for gastronomy, and rightly so. St Martin hails from a history of farming, and retains that charm despite the modernisation of the resort. With working farms to dine at, for the freshest produce without any food miles; as well as mountain restaurants and Michelin starred establishments, there is plenty to keep your taste buds tantalised throughout your holiday. 3. Take a ski lesson
Whatever our level we can all benefit from a bit of tuition. Whether you’re a bit rusty, have picked up bad habits, or especially if you’re new to the sport, ski lessons can help you build confidence, develop technique and get more from your week. The better your skills, the further you can travel. And the more adventures you can have. It’s a no brainer really. Then there’s also the benefit of a little local knowledge to really supercharge your week and help you find the best snow! There are a number of great ski lesson options in St Martin.
4. Treat yourself to a spa session
Skiing can be a taxing activity if you’re body is not used to it. Lets face it, not many of us spend hours a day leaning forward, using our thighs. So if you fancy an afternoon off, or have a poor weather day, what better way to spend your day than some time in the spa. There are two options to choose from which you can read about on our St Martin activity guide for non-skiers.
5. Enjoy some Après
Admittedly St Martin is not the the après capital of the Alps. But if you fancy a few drinks after skiing, the popular P bar has live music at apres. Or head to Le Joker bar for a bit of late night action.
6. Enjoy an adrenaline fueled toboggan run
In neighbouring Les Menuires there are two super fun toboggan runs to tackle. Choose from the 4km Roc n Bob course with 22 corners to tackle on a sledge. Or take on Speed Mountain, a roller coaster style ride, on a track. You can check out videos of both here.
Fancy something a little different? Why not try husky sledding? An exhilarating way to see the area, and to make the most of being outdoors. Excursions last from 30 minutes to an hour, so can easily fit into that time after skiing, before cake….
8. Take to the air
If you have a head for heights and prefer to see the area from the sky then try a tandem paraglide. Taking off from the top of Mont de la Chambre at 2850m you’ll soar through the air, taking in the whole of the Belleville Valleys and beyond, before landing in Les Menuires. Highly recommended!
